i've been dwelling on random edward headcanon and thinking about touch starvation in general, so i decided to make a list of actual physical contact the riddler had in tb plus related observations, because shrug! might as well make this an Edward Nygma Appreciation Journal now that i'm trying to use it again


Riddled 

• he fucking walks into yin's gun while he's boasting about stealing all the info in the city's mainframe and how he was more concerned abt the batman than gcpd; she shoves him away with a hand on his chest, making him stumble back a few steps. 
• grabs yin's collar after knocking her gun away and smashing her in the ribs--i don't know if i should count this but just taking note of the fact he can both swing his cane hard enough to disable someone who's p good at fighting on her own, even if only for a few seconds to get her with knock out gas, and physically hold her up despite being a Twig Man (also forgot he just fuckign drops her onto the floor. i mean idk what else he'd do there but)
• puts his hand on the batman's face/cowl and lingers there for a bit to taunt both batsy and yin (also ffs his hands so huge)
• puts his hand on yin's lower face to try covering her mouth so she can't ruin the game, but she still manages to move her mouth so she can speak anyway. also his hands are fucking gigantic i said that already but wow it's never not going to mess with me like
• riddler knocks batman around a bit but only with his cane and a thing of electrified cables. batman gets in 1 punch and that's enough to slam him into the wall. twig man
• not actually seen on-screen but it's safe to assume either the batman cuffed him or the batman held him while yin cuffed him
• the cops escorting him to the paddy wagon or whatever holding both arms

Night and the City

• the batman knocking him unconscious w/ a punch after hitting him in the gut with his own cane
• the cops pulling him up after being apprehended w/ the rest, but he walks away on his own
• note to self: art commission for yin fucking decking him or something, i love edward but she should've gotten a hit in at least once

Riddler's Revenge

• kicked in the chest w/ both feet by batman, sent stumbling back several steps but doesn't drop
• tackled by batman, drops cane/scepter but manages to roll to his feet
• tackle/grabbed and tossed in a shipping container
• tries to punch batman, gets punched in the face and flies backwards across the container instead
• julie sets her hand over his after he solves the gift puzzlebox--a light touch, her hand stays in the air after his hand falls
• shoves gorman hard enough he falls to the floor out the doorway
• holds out his hand, julie rests hers on it, his fingers curl inward just a little but not around hers
• (unsurprisingly does not shake gorman's hand at the demonstration)
• puts the bio-harddrive on the university president's forehead 
• reaches after julie when she rushes over to prez's side but there's no actual physical contact there
• grabs batman's offered hand, pulled up and out of the container
• knocks batman down w/ both fists clasped together--batman's temporarily unconscious, is probs already injured from the crate sinking
• grabs julie by her upper arms to pull her forward, she's only startled for a second before going back to irritated
• puts 5 bio-harddrives on julie's face (though not firmly, apparently, they all fall off p quickly after)
• uses the Sharp Questions to hook the batman's gauntlets and both push, actual physical contact getting kicked in the face (probably, it flashes instead of showing the direct hit)

Rumors 

• catches batman from behind and holds the cane in front of him so mr. freeze could potentially get a hit in
• gets flung and lands on top of mr. freeze

yeah like... he is not interested in being touched, nobody touch him, how dare you touch him! but it's alarming to him because he's not expecting kind touches from people, he has zero idea how to react, so better to just shoo people away from doing it in the first place. if it's a surprise then it's bad and unfamiliar, and it's always a surprise

that thing about him and using the cane as a bat is like ten times worse now that you've reminded me again about the Sports thing. like... maybe he was never that bad at it. maybe that's why his dad was such a jerk about it. my kid Will be a sports man, look at the arm he's got! but like... being not terrible at something doesn't mean you want to be forced into it. so... boom. look, dad, i did end up deciding to use that skill you tried to force me into. surprise, though! It's For Crimes™ fuck you fuck you fuck you

yeah he probs was good at 'em, or at least some of 'em. he did have a ball in his room

which is out with other toys that seem to have been getting some use

also balance on narrow things and jump well

so, maybe some kind of acrobatics-type things, but again not very masculine so i doubt that'd be a thing his father encouraged--i can see that being motivated by Spite (or for extra suffer points at least trying to do athletic shit he doesn't totally hate to try meeting his dad halfway when he was too young to know better)
