Dec. 5th, 2018 03:20 pmman. would anyone be interested in a game w/ the general premise "video games are their own self-contained worlds, in which most characters don't know said worlds are video games and not real"? either just a casual game w/ v simple apps or just an outright dressing room with moderators that need to keep an eye on things p well.
first draft thought thing is the rp game itself is a patchwork of a generic sims-style thing w/ added bits of the characters' worlds being rescued/recovered from deletion, slowly growing as more characters show.
shrugs!

Date: 2018-12-06 09:36 am (UTC)there'd probs be a thing where you fill out info. not necessarily apps for entrance, just a character sheet, and it'd have a section explaining what their game is like. maybe it'd need some guidelines as to how the video game should be like in the case of differing canon. idk yet

Date: 2018-12-06 08:11 pm (UTC)i want to make sure it makes sense! and also does appeal to other people. i know it's impossible to please everyone and i don't plan on trying, but solely hanging on to the most fascinating part of it for me--the goddamn massive existential crisis of most characters learning fully how they're just playthings--is not enough to fuel the absolute whole of a game on, probably :V also gotta decide on who/what's pulling ppl in rly. just, general things that need some thinky thought to it, most importantly when i'm not Exhausted all the time

Date: 2018-12-07 02:58 am (UTC)I guess a lot of it would come to 1) Everyone coming from a world which exists for a person (or, people, in some cases) and relies on the actions of said person to metaphorically bring life to that world, whether it's through controlling the heroes on a quest, using an avatar to plant crops and go through the seasons, just clicking the "next" button in the visual novel, or whatever. So what do you do when the person you exist for just isn't going to be around anymore?
And 2) video games all have their own sort of rules- even the physics from one game to another can differ dramatically, so when people from worlds with such stringent but different rules meet, how do they adjust and react to the differences?

Date: 2018-12-07 05:04 am (UTC)gotta make lives for themselves! and come to terms with a lot of their owl worldviews being utterly shattered. mostly.
sort of on the subject of 2) i was thinking about like. using frisk as an example first, possibly their body being comparatively invulnerable w/ their SOUL being the weak point, which would always pop out during any confrontation, or maybe just floating there in front of their chest 100%of the time. also, they probs can't run physically since they couldn't in undertale...except from monsters. how is that "running" different? the rules are so different between characters i'm not yet sure how to make it, like. reasonable.
and then even going back to 1) the "for people" bit, kind of--how different characters would be aware. for ut, late no-mercy run kiddos would be deeply aware, pacifist would be sort of aware, undyne wouldn't be aware at all. or the mgs protags, who regularly break the fourth wall but still act like everything is real to them.
i am possibly going to worry about all of this a little later.
